Now is the time to learn how to become a better athlete!

  • Spine PT

All patients receive a mechanical evaluation of the spine. The spine consists of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. The cervical spine evaluation always involves a thorough investigation of the shoulder girdle complex. The lumbar spine evaluation always involves a thorough investigation of the pelvis & hip joint. The shoulder and hip joints directly affect the spine. Any strength deficits, muscle tightness or joint restrictions at either joints must be addressed to successfully abolish back pain.

Poor posture and poor body mechanics can be direct causes of spinal pain. An ergonomic assessment is performed with all spine pain patients. Proper recommendations and adjustments to sitting posture and body mechanics are necessary for patients with spinal pain.

Endurance re-training of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar para-spinals and core muscles are essential in improving overall function and decreasing pain.

  • Orthopedic PT

Evaluation and treatment of each post-operative patient is given personalized care which includes close communication with the surgeon regarding precautions, contra-indications and specific protocols related to the procedure performed. Post-surgical procedures include: cervical spine fusion, lumbar fusion, cervical & lumbar discectomy, rotator cuff repair, shoulder labral repair, total shoulder replacement, total hip replacement, total knee replacement, ACL reconstruction and meniscectomy.

  • Athletic Performance

Every sport has their specific injury risk. Sports such as baseball have common shoulder and elbow injuries such as labral tears, rotator cuff strains and lateral /medial epicondylitis. With sports like soccer, the most common injuries are patella-femoral pain syndrome, ACL tears and meniscal tears. There are also certain injuries that are gender biased. Adolescent girls have higher frequency of certain knee injuries which should be considered when evaluating them. In evaluating the client, special attention will be given to the joints and muscles which are at most risk with their sport. Investigating the stresses that are involved with certain sports is vital in getting clients back to their activity safely. Strength, power, endurance and agility are all areas that must be evaluated before returning to sports. Together, we will make sure you get back to the sport you love.

  • Injury Prevention

The best way to prevent a back injury is learning what movements to avoid. Your evaluation and treatment will include an analysis of your work or home activities. Learning the proper way of sitting, lifting, bending and reaching is vital in preventing future injuries.

  • Workplace Solutions or Ergonomics

With increasing computer use in our daily routine, knowing how to properly sit has become increasingly important in avoiding back injuries. Evaluation of the workstation and recommending adjustments & ergonomic tools will be provided to clients in order to prevent spine injuries.

  • Balance Training & Fall Prevention

According to the CDC, more than one out of four elderly (65 & older) people fall each year. Falling once doubles your chances of falling again. Balance training and fall prevention is vital in preventing future injuries like fractures, dislocations and head injuries.

  • Post Discharge Exercise Program

On your last day of therapy, you will receive a summary of all your exercises via the online portal - Medbridge. Here you will find customized videos of your exercises and educational material on preventing future injuries.
